Factory Auto Steering column
The column was used for a power glide. Is there a way to modify it to use a turbo 350 or 700r4?

Re: Factory Auto Steering column
I know of no one who makes an adjusted pointer or indicator for the 60-66 auto columns. they do for the 67-72 columns though.

Re: Factory Auto Steering column
Im not worried about the pointer to be honest, that is only something noticable when driving. Just making sure it would work in general. Going for a somewhat stick look and I have the column so that works for me

Re: Factory Auto Steering column
I was always told that if the detents or stops in the shifter are not correct, then you will not fully engage the selector on the trans. The 700R4 trans are very picky about the gear positions and the TV cable adjustment.
May not be any truth to it, but it is what I was told. |

I got two w/700r4 with OE 'glide columns. Everything lines up-(D is OD, etc) except "low" is off the indicator.

Re: Factory Auto Steering column
I used the factory auto column with my TH400 without any problem also. L1 is down beyond the lens is all.

Re: Factory Auto Steering column
What do you guys use to connect the factory powerglide column to a TH350 or TH400? Will the rod that went from the column to the powerglide work the same for a TH350 or TH400?

Re: Factory Auto Steering column
www.shiftworks.com They sell linkage kits for using a Powerglide column with a TH350, TH400 and other transmissions.
Also they sell the indicator lenses with L1 and L2 on them. These indicator lenses are for the 60's model Chevy cars (impala, chevelle, etc.) but are very similar to the C-10's. I have not measured mine yet to see if its the same size, but the ones they sell are 2 1/2"L X 1/2" W. |
