My new-ish 71 gmc 4x4

`Ive had the suburban since feb, but am just now getting around to making a post for it. Its a beautiful dark blue / white 4x4, 350v8, th350, missing the third row (but will be replacing the cargo area floor with planks). Its in decent shape for being a Michigan truck, not many 67-72 trucks up here, almost no suburbans, and havnt seen a 4x4 besides mine at all, so i can deal with a little bit of body work

Thats how it sat for a few months while i had the carb out getting rebuilt (guy had alot of other work to do before getting to the carb)

SOme idiot decided that cutting the floor open was the easiest way to put in the exhaust

still have no idea how i am going to fix the area around the taillight, or how they busted it up like that to begin with

pretty solid truck all around, just needs driver front floorpan, bit in front of the wheel wells, body mounts, and the bit where the tailgate meets the back rusted bad. hopefully have most of it fixed by mid spring

Congratulations on your new ol' burb!
Crazy that someone felt they needed to cut the floor to put in exhaust!?
That taillight section, I often see members buy a solid section from another burb and then graft it in place of damage like that.

BTW that tailgate emblem is not reproduced, and it is highly sought after by other GMC burb owners.

Looks pretty complete. It will make a good ride. I agree with Chris on the tail light, looks like the PO backed into something. Check with Tom. He parts a lot of burbs.

Re: My new-ish 71 gmc 4x4

yeah i was really proud of that emblem untill it broke a couple weeks ago will be keeping my eye out for anybody parting out a truck so i can get that corner, also, does anybody know how the bolt that holds up the tailgate is secured? i was trying to see / feel to see if there is a nut on the other side, but couldn't reach. somebody threw a bolt in there, and i cant get it to tighten down.
