Any Classic Aluminum Rims that fit a 72 k10 4x4?
I just got done finding out that an American Eagle #058 15x10 aluminum wheel doesn't fit a stock 72 chev k10. I've looked at other brands of wheels and most of the websites either don't have "list by vehicle" configuration tool or the tool doesn't list any 15" classic aluminum wheels for my year vehicle.
I see a lot of pics of 4x4 trucks similar to mine sporting nice classic wheels so I guess they can be found. Can any of you recommend a "currently available" classic aluminum wheel in 15x10 6 lug 5.5" that would mount sucessfully to my 72? I would appreciate your input, thanks, Gary |

Re: Any Classic Aluminum Rims that fit a 72 k10 4x4?
I had a set of American Racing Vector wheels for sale for about 10 years. They were 15 x 10 6 lug. Nobody wanted them, and i was selling them cheap too. I ended up scraping them when aluminum prices went up. 15" tire selection is not as plentiful as the bigger sizes.
Good luck in your quest!

Try this site, http://www.rimsntires.com, they have a great shop by vehicle tool. Play around with their site, it gives everything from stock sizes, offsets, etc.

I should know by mid next week how things go. I'm hoping to be able to buy an American made wheel, not one made in China like many of them. We'll see. Thanks again |

the caliper or the caliper bracket? mine was hitting on the bracket, it came to a corner. i just ground the corner round and it fits my aluminum wheels just fine now

Yes, it's the caliper bracket that the wheel barrel jambs-up into. The tire shop also wanted to grind it down to make it fit, but I told them no. I didn't know how much steel it would take to make them fit and I didn't want to ruin or de-face my original parts. How much steel did you have to remove and was it an American Eagle #058 that you were trying to fit? Thanks |

also, how close are your wheels from seating all the way on the axle? mine only had to go 1/2in-3/4in to go on all the way

Re: Any Classic Aluminum Rims that fit a 72 k10 4x4?
All the classic rims fit. Not sure about anything new. Back in the day we just bought wheels without giving back space/caliper clearance a thought. I was never even asked what vehicle they were going on. I did run a set of 15" wheels on my '71 K/20 and was told beforehand it would require a little grinding on the caliper...no biggy)

Re: Any Classic Aluminum Rims that fit a 72 k10 4x4?
Well, finally got my rims and wheels mounted. Turns out that both American Eagle #058 and #186 require grinding down my front disc brake caliper brackets. You're right, it's no big deal, can't see the grinding, doesn't weaken the bracket much, only took about an hour. I also want to report that both American Eagle and Americas Tire in Cambell were great to work with. This was a big pain in the neck for the tire shop, but they never complained nor charged me additional for mounting and dismounting the wheels as we tried different rims.
Thanks agin for your feedback, I'll send phots when I figure out what's wrong with my photobucket uploading. |

Re: Any Classic Aluminum Rims that fit a 72 k10 4x4?
Great, thanks! Now I can pick my chair up off the floor.
When I first got the truck back in 72 I mounted 1200x16.5's. Then the last set I bought 31" 11.50x15's. When I had the body and paint done last year they opend the front wells enough for me to mount 33" 12.50x15's that you see in the pics. I clear the garage door by about 1/2" and is why I left it stock height. |

I bought the American Eagle #058 rims (made in USA) and mounted the Falken Wildpeak A/T's. I'm happy with the looks, the ride, and the quietness of the tires.
