My Father inlaws '72 K20

Went down to Tucson for a visit and I took some Pictures of my Father in-laws '72 K20 Cheyenne. He bought it new in Tucson, AZ in 1972. Special order with dealer installed lift and over sized tires/wheels. He took the hub caps off the day he brought it home and has them in a box in perfect condition. I normally hang out in the 73-87 side of town but I know you would like these pictures!

Re: My Father inlaws '72 K20

OK ... I want it! Not as big as a Longhorn but that would be turnkey fantastic for my Huskies. Love the carrier, they were so rarely seen on pickups but truly functional with a short camper or topper. So which did you see first the girl or the truck?? :-)

Re: My Father inlaws '72 K20

The girl! LOL the camper in the background goes in the truck and was built short so you can keep the tail gate. Then open the gate to have a lil front porch for your camper.

Re: My Father inlaws '72 K20

Correct answer... just checking there. So where are the rest of the pictures? Like the SPID and of the underside. This time capsule truck looks to be full of preserved details. About ready to make arrangements to drag my other half with her 2 zillion mega pixel camera to Tucson.

Re: My Father inlaws '72 K20

Sorry that's all I got for now. I'm 5 hours away from this truck now. Next time I will get the Chassis and SPID. It truly is a time capsule. Old Cb radio and a pull out 8-track player, a number of power converters for the camper. Extra fuel tanks. He runs the Small block 350 with a Led additive and has done so since they quit adding lead to fuel. Plastic carpet liners and clear plastic seat covers. I think the wheels are Kelsey-hayes? 16.5x10?? not positive on that.

Too Way Cool!! I can't even imagine how cool it would be to own a vehicle for fourty years. What a slick setup with the camper, and carrier on the back. No, not bored with the photo's. Need more with the camper on over the last four decades!
Oh, and Tim don't really need it, ship it down here!

Re: My Father inlaws '72 K20

Reminds me of my dad's old truck. He would put a saddle blanket seat cover on immediately after he bought it and put older, more worn floor mats over the immaculate factory ones. I always asked why he didn't just store the nice ones but he never could give me a good answer. I always used to question him about his OCD with his truck!

From what I understand the body is the factory paint. The top of the cab was repainted in a darker Blue after the camper bumped the top of the cab and ruined the paint.

Nice one! What color is that? Almost looks like a bluish green/turquoise but could just be the pictures and really be medium blue? The SPID will answer this question if you don't know.

And it still works! He has 8-tracks in the glove box. Next time I am down there I will get the Spid. The CB works also, the antennae is mounted on the camper (As you can see in the pics).

Every time I see him I bring him a 12 pack, In the hopes he remembers me in his will

Man,that's just the kind of truck that got me fired up about these trucks back when that was a typical western get outta town rig. I'm sure it's had it upkeep and parts replacements as part of your father-in-law's immaculate upkeep regiment. It appears to have a replacement dash bezel. He knew what he wanted back then and no reason to change in 40 years. This is the single largest appeal of these trucks to me. They are modern classics now and can still run with the pack.
