Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but an '86 HEI would be out of a "computer" controlled car. I think you need to find a pre-computer HEI...... Pre-1981??? It'll physically fit, but may not work.

You might be right now that i think about it . My old 86 did have egr-air pump-other bric -a-brac. but it was carberator driven and had no map sensor or o/2 sensor I believe chevy did not go to tbi setup until 87 on thier 1/2 ton.s

it'll fit and work, but you won't have spark advance since the 86 was ecm controlled, (even with a carb.).

You need an HEI that has the cav canister on it, and no computer harness plug.
But it would bolt in and work though...just wouldn't work very well. |
