Might be a partial VIN on an Alanta built truck. Do you know for sure if it is a '67-72 frame? Are the numbers, specifically 16A...., in the correct order with no additional digits or spaces. A picture would really help at this point. And last does it match a known VIN you have title to?

Re: help! need someone to decode this frame for me please...
Serial numbers sequence of 500,000 for Atlanta was used only in 1972 on the GMC line there, placing it as a 1972 frame.
Search the forum for frame number vins. The "6" should be the year code, unless GMC does something different then Chevrolet. Crazy.

If it is a GMC Suburban w/Tailgate, the model number would be CE15916.
Could the "16" in the stamping be the body style? Then it would all fall into play then: it's a 1972 GMC Atlanta Suburban frame. But is your frame a 127" wheelbase? Suburban w/b 133" wheelbase. If so, that blows that idea and were out of ideas.

Re: help! need someone to decode this frame for me please...
I was thinking along the suburban lines as well but 67-72 were on a 127 just like the lwb p/u. 133 was a 1 ton only deal. Might be a 66 or a 76 frame. Could we get a picture of the frame, say a standing looking down quarter view?

Re: help! need someone to decode this frame for me please...
A 1976 frame would fairly obvious looking at it or a quick frame width measurement, I would think.
I don't follow 1966 and earlier pickups. But it should be easy enough to find out what 1966 Atlanta was using for serial numbers and body styles etc. etc.
