4L80E? Will It Work?
Guys give me a little information, PLEASE!!. I have a 4l80E GM Goodwrench replacement transmission that was pulled off of a 1995 chevy dually. My question is, I have a 2002 6.0 DBC swap that needs a transmission to complete the package. Will this tranny work okay? The only visible difference that i see is that on the driver side of the tranny, it does not seem to be a place to bolt the gear selector module. Is this needed to retro this package in an older vehicle. Anyways, please chime in!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 4L80E? Will It Work?
iirc the gear position indicator isn't needed, all it does is tell the vehicle what to display for "gear" on the dash....older trucks didn't have the digital readout.
you will have a bolt hole that doesn't line up, which is fine. (top one) you'll probably want a new tq converter, and if it was a diesel iirc you NEED a different converter.

Re: 4L80E? Will It Work?
You mayalso need a new internal harness andtemp sensor
My 93 80E required both since the earlier 80E had a different wiring harness plug. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 4L80E? Will It Work?
91, 92 and early '93's had the weird bolt-on connecter & harness.
I do recommend replacing the EPC solenoid with a new one from GM, A bad EPC can cause "sky-high" line pressure...And can even break the case, Cheap insurance when dealing with a early 4L80E. |

Now that I think about it, I did change one of the solenoids too. How you forget things after 7 years.

Re: 4L80E? Will It Work?
My 05 wiring harness fit perfect in my 91 4l80 if we're talking that big bulk plug on the side of the tranny
