Need ideas for a custom manual throttle - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hey i have a 1967 short fleet that was completly bone stock. I just got a gauge cluster to replace the standard and it has a hole for manual throttle. Id like to use it but i dont have the stock cable and like i said, the truck was bone stock

, so i was thinking mounting it on the carb but id like it to look stock. any sugestions or better ideas would help out alot

I think that would be a choke cable, on the upper right corner of the cluster. I have one from my truck around here somewhere. I'm sure you could find one in the classifieds here too, pretty cheap.

The manual throttle on a 67 would be on the lower right side of the four knobs, shown below.

you can install the cable and hook it up to a wolf whistel or a train horn

Not sure if you are aware of it but you can't just swap the gauge clusters without rewiring the electrical plug that plugs into the back of the cluster. You may fry some of the gauges if you do. There is a how to at this link. Scroll down a ways....

Unfortunatly i have a 69-70 dash so my wiper switch is gonna be all the way to the right side, guess if i still use a manual choke i could just use it for that but then it wouldnt really have thaat wierd option anymore. Thanks for all these ideas guys

If you have a 70 dash, you can put it under the headlight switch like mine.

Its not a wierd option, it is a truck option. Hope to find a truck with a manual throttle if not I will be adding one to work with a hydraulic or pto winch. Either you need one or you don't and most people didn't hence the relative rarity.

Never said it was a rare option.I thought it would probrolly help out alot in the winter to get the truck warmed up faster without me having to be inside. I just thought it was a wierd option cause i havent seen alot of trucks with it, but dontget me wrong there probrolly more out there than what i know. I found this dash in a dump truck c30 in a junkyard. Id check around with all the heavy duty trucks like dump trucks and wreckers(maybe even the c50s and 60s if you dont mind using a dremmel) I didnt see alot of c10 or 20s with it but i know that it was an option for them too, not only the big trucks. Just not too often you see them on half tons.

Still trying to figure out a way to mount the throttle cable without having it bind up on the throttle itself? would it be better to try to make the brackets or should i not worry about it binding up?

My manual throttle hooks to the pedal linkage right in front of the firewall.... still works with my ls swap.
