Re: Vent Windows

I just used the ones that came with the pop-rivet gun from AZ. Didn't need it til I changed out my vent gaskets. No problems yet, and that was 6 yrs ago.

Re: Vent Windows

Try Classic Parts of America. I just rebuilt both of mine last year. Got the weatherstrip, rivets and rivet set tool from them.

Re: Vent Windows

I just finished. Just used 1/8 pop-rivets and 3/4 rivet with a washer on the end. Turned out pretty nice considering I've never done it before.

Just saw a nice rivet kit for those today in my new 'Brothers' catalog.
Hard to find them in their online catalog though.

Re: Vent Windows

does anyone have a "hot to" on this? I tried on driver side and got mad and just bought new GM assemblies (almost $400 ea.). I have my old windows and the seals and would like to fix them for spares.

We just started producing install videos for weatherstrip and this will be our next project. If you subscribe to our channel you'll catch the update when we have it done.

Also we offer complete refurbished assemblies that are ready to go. Check them out here.

Re: Vent Windows

How hard is it to change out the complete assembly? I was going to get a body shop to put new rubber on my '83, but by the time I get the parts and pay them labor I might be better off buying the whole thing.

It's quite easy. Take a look at our 73-79 Ford install at the beginning and towards the end, the process is very similar although I believe there are 2 bolts behind the door panel that secures the division bar on the Chevy.
You can also give me a call if you have any further questions.

Re: Vent Windows

The best way is to use dawn soap and a 1 inch putty knife to push it into the groove. Once its in the grove.. easy as cake. Oh and patience helps too.

Be careful when ordering from LMC truck. I thought they were selling OEM parts but it turns out the tail light lenses were reproduced in china. The lenses are nice and clear (red) but the trim rings are so thin I bent one during install on the lenses and ended up using the old ones that really weren't that bad. Nothing comes with mounting inst. and putting the new rear chrome bumper over the reciever hitch took alot of thought and trial and error to get it right.

Re: Vent Windows

I just received my parts for vent window and rivets from LMC. Working on it now and needed a video or how to before I tore into it. Thanks...
