My project.....IT'S LOWERED!
Hey all, as some of you may remember I bought a 1987 GMC 3500 C&C for $500 a few weeks ago. It has a 6.2 diesel,TH400 trans,and a 14blt w/4.56 gears.
First off I guess back in January the lady had an offer on the truck for $2500. When the guy came to look at the truck, they started it and put it into reverse and the truck died...lost ALL power...would not start or nothing(NO power). SO the guy walked away....fast forward 7 months and here "I" come. I talked to the lady about the truck. It had past due registration(expired in Feb) and would not start. SO I offered her $500 and she accepted the offer. I went back last week to pick it up(trailer),made an 8g wire from the battery + to the junction block and the truck fired right off! She was NOT happy to say the least, but the deal was done...her son told her that it needed about 500 in parts to get it running again + the past due registration........about a $1 in wire was all it was...fusible link at starter. Now onto the registration. They "tried" to junk the title to eliminate the past due fees...still have to pay the fees in order to junk it.....So I have a CLEAN title. The weight fee for it is $240(JUST the weight fee!) because it weighs in at 6290lbs!...My goal is to get it under 5001lbs. Then the fee would only be $80. If that happens, which I am sure it will, the total past due will only be $332 to bring it current 'til Feb 2013....instead of the $600+ with the previous weight fee. I am planning on building a "hot rod" style flatbed(if there is such a thing!lol).....so here are some pics. I will update this as I move forward.

Re: My project.....
and some IDEAS I have for the new bed...the on e the is just a tube frame is NOT finished. It gave me the idea so when I lower this thing I will have room between the floor and tires.

Re: My project.....
Looking forward to progress pics. I have a love hate relationship with my flatbed. I think it`s ugly, and would rather have a truck bed, but it is so useful.

Re: My project.....
Well, today I finished removing the rest of the flat bed. The I loaded it all up and took to scrap...1500lbs! And that did not include the 2 full 4x8 sheets of 3/4" plywood!that came off too....OR the wood stake sides! All of that could possibly add up to another 3-350lbs!

"dog" !
You got it Tim...I put a 4" BellTech drop kit on today. Tomorrow I will be starting on the BellTech 3" drop spindles. I am pretty jazzed about it right now. I have NEVER had a lowered truck before.

What did the lady tell you when you turned it on?
Did she try and give you the money back?
