Ridetech Rear Strong Arm Benefits

I just watched the 5 part Ridetech install video for the 1965 C10, and I have to ask, what did he install in the rear that is so different from our factory suspension? I mean are the tubular trailing arms alot better than our factory ones? Or would you only worry about that sort of full system if you where going to do autocross with your truck? I know he notche dthe frame and added bags, but I thought the rest of it was pretty much just for show... excuse my ignorance if I have totally missed something.
