What can you swap off a 1500 to a 2500?

What are the differences between the two? Specifically '71's.
Are the only differences drive train and suspension? Can I pull a windshield out of a 1500 and throw it into my 2500?

Well its just suspension . 5 lug vs 8 lug, heavy duty springs , i think the suspension might be a bit tweaked up too , not sure though.

If you are asking if you can take a C 20 windshield and put it in a C 10 (or vise versa) then the answer is yes. There were no 1500's in 1971.

The body and frame are the same for 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton gmc and chevys. 3/4 ton frames have more gussets, reinforcements inserted in the frame over the rear axle, heavier springs, larger axles, different ball joints and larger spindles. Other than that everything crosses over.

If you are loking for some parts let me know, I have made contacts from Ronan to Hamilton and maybe I can line you up with the right person to find what you need.

I have a GMC too... So I knew what you wuz sayin'.

All the body panels, interior, and glass will swap over. Heck even the engines and transmissions will swap over. Like mentioned earlier... the 2500's had the 8 lugs where the 1500's only had 5. Also, the rear ends could have been an Eaton or a Dana in the 2500's, where the 1500's only got 12 bolts.

The frames are not the same except the K10 LWB and K20. These are the different PICKUP TRUCK frames as I understand. Any corrections are invited.

C/10 115" COIL
C/10 115" LEAF
C/20 127" COIL
C/20 127" LEAF
C/30 133" LEAF (Longhorn C/20 & C/30, 9' Stepside)

K/10 115"
K/10 / K/20 127"

The frame section modulus numbers, 39k psi carbon steel for C10 to the C30s. Most of the increase is due to section height changes of the frame.

C10 115 2.98 section modulus
C10 127 2.98
K10 115 2.70
K10 127 3.48
C20 127 3.71
K20 127 3.48
C20/30 133 Longhorns 5.05
C30 157 7.29

Nice. Thanks guys.

I know I need a headlight switch, windshield, fuel tank sending unit and the Quadrajet carb needs to be rebuilt.
