truck shuts off at red lights

I am new to this but lets try it. I have a 69 stepside that shuts off at the red lights but starts right back up. I have to rev it up or hold the gas pedal down and brake at the same time.

I have the gas tank mounted in the rear with a sumitt fuel pump and a 350sbc with a 650cfm edelbrock. anyone have this problem or can help thanks alot

Re: truck shuts off at red lights

1. If using an HEI distributor set up, check wiring from distributor, often I see that these are wired incorrectly or not using the proper guage of wire causing resistance issues that can cause stall.

2. Type of Carb? Eldelbrock floats can stick causing idle issues under load. Clean with a good quality carb cleaner spray to start but will probably need a carb rebuild.

3. Fuel boil, does it stall only after being warmed up on a hotter day? Try a spacer between carb and mainfold, cheap and easy fix and slightly increases performance anyway if not the main issue.

Make sure its not lean on the idle curcit while your looking at, a lean setting can cause it to just up and die like that.
