WTB Slotted Mags - Slots

Want to buy a set of slots for my 70 C10. I'm looking for this look.

My truck is currently six lug w/drums all around but am planning to swap to disc in front when I drop it. Anyone know if these wheels will clear discs? Thanks.

UPDATE: I'm looking for some vintage slot mag wheels in the 5x5 bolt pattern. 15x7, 15x7.5, 15x8 or 15x8.5

Thanks

Re: WTB Slotted Mags - Slots

what disc setup are you going to use ??? are you going to stay with a 6 lug pattern or go to 5. If you are going with a "aftermarket" disc setup they should be able to tell you if they will clear. I believe if they will clear a stock wheel they will clear these mags, but don't quote me on that. I have a set of these mags on a 68 that I bought not too long ago. these are getting hard to find in decent shape. I would have to look at them again too remember what condition they are in, if in decent shape I would take $400 plus shipping. Coop

Re: WTB Slotted Mags - Slots

Hey Coop. I just heard from the owner of the truck in the example pic and he said that he's running discs up front. He was also able to give me the wheel diminsions. 15x7 with 3.5" backspacing for the front wheels and 15x8.5 with 3.75" backspacing for the backs. Let me know if that matches up with the set you have. I hadn't decided on the five lug swap or not. I figured if I ran across a set of six lug slots that would clear the ECE six lug discs then I would go that direction. Or, if I ran across a set of five lug slots I would just do a five lug conversion all around. Thanks.

Re: WTB Slotted Mags - Slots

Thanks viking427. I've seen those but those max out at 8" wide and I was hoping to get something wider for the back. Plus the back spacing isn't what I'd prefer. I want a little more lip. I may end up with the new ones as a last resort.

Yeah. I figured the wallowed out lug holes might be an issue and expensive to have fixed.

Re: WTB Slotted Mags - Slots

Those didn't look like a universal set to me. Looked like someone home-engineered them to work on another vehicle. I thought the uni-lug wheels had an oval indention like this for the lug washers.

Mine have the oval lug holes. They take a lug nut with a shoulder that goes down inside the hole.

Boy those look great Leon. I had six of those and let two go at the last swap meet for 25 bucks for the pair. Need room to move in my small shop. Dunno if I will ever use the other ones, but I thought I would keep em if I ever wanna change up my panel some.

Sorry cericd ... didnt mean to jack your thread

Re: WTB Slotted Mags - Slots

Careful on the front with 15", if you have too much backspacing they can hit the lower control arm when you turn the wheels really deep.

I'll keep my eyes open for you too. I know a guy that has a bunch of old original Torq Thrusts too .. (as well as a bunch of slots)

How much is too much? The owner of the truck at the top of this thread said he has no problems with a 15x7 with 3.5" backspacing and disc brakes.
