72 with 71 rear view mirror location????

Has anyone ever seen an original 1972 Truck with rear view mirror mounted like 71?? This truck is listed on Ebay as an original paint 1972 truck and there is an picture of the SPID. Could it have been a very early 72? I realize some things have been changed.

Re: 72 with 71 rear view mirror location????

I have seen several 72 trucks with mirrors in the 71 position. I believe all of the 72's that I have seen with the 71 mirrors had the mirrors mounted by their owners after the 72 mirrors fell off of the windshield.

The 71 trucks were the only ones that had a raised area for the mirror mounting. If you can see a raised area then the cab was probably a 71.

Re: 72 with 71 rear view mirror location????

I looked at one truck just like that, owner insisted it was never messed with but I just assumed it had a cab swap. Who knows..the truck I am referring to had the work done many decades ago if ever at all. Sure looked to me like it had never ben painted.

With assembly lines back then nothing is too shocking.

Too bad "all original" didn't include anything but the paint. It was a package C highlander trim truck and probably a mid MY production. I'd say someone screwed that mirror on.

I know it has a lot of changes overall, but the mirror caught my attention. It is hard to see in the picture if it has the raised area between the sun visors. Nice little clean truck though.
