Custom Bicycles

Some bikes I've built over the years...

This one was set up so that when you extended the seat out, and used your body weight to offcenter it.....she would cat walk on the wheelie bars. Was fun as well.

6 speed, and pretty close to everything was made from existing bike parts. Mostly forks, and frames. Had to fabricate the bottom of the fork extensions out of exhaust tubing, and the tank from scrap steel....Thing would haul!! lmao

Re: Custom Bicycles

1974 era. Could not afford to buy a bike so I made them with parts from the Big Spring clean up at the municipal dump.

Trike was a snow blower base with tires from a lawn tractor. Plastic kitchen chair. 3 speed with throttle type shifter on the handlebars. Front tire and rim off a CCM Fastback. Am/Fm Cassette with CB. Dad got the white canvas from work and my Mom sewed up the pieces for the top. Groovy bike to ride.

CAFÉ RACER. An attempt to see if lying chest down on a bike would be any better. Jealous kids had strung a telephone wire across the street and I tore the rotten 4x4 post off the building it was attached to as it caught in the gooseneck.

My BMX. Rapido was the manufacturer of the frame and I saved for knobby tires. Kept braking pedals from jumping so I welded 1/2" bolts with 1/2" schedule 40 pipe and that took care of that.

Covered wagon. Dad helped build this trailer so I could deliver newspapers all year round without getting them wet.

Re: Custom Bicycles

Chopper was a 2 speed, you would quickly pedal back to change gears. The forks were 4 1/2 feet long. My introduction to rod iron work. Many a brave soul lost skin trying to ride this bike.
