Dealer Promos
Does anyone else collect these? You know, they stopped making these in the early-80s. I think the last truck promos were the '72s. I never saw a post-72 before. El Caminos were put out in the early-80s,but not trucks. They may have continued with Vettes through the '80s,but it wasn't until the new design GM trucks came out in '88 that they started back up with them. I figure they saw how collectible the early ones had become, and just like the whole collectible market that erupted at that time, they decided to get back into it. I collected a bunch of Vette,Camaro, and truck promos in the early-90s. When I got my new '92 GMC I was really excited that there were '92 truck promos..although SWB Chevys, not my exact truck. I bought up a bunch. The SS454 had just come out and one version of the promo was an Onyx Black Sport...the truck an SS454 was based on. I also got a bunch of the first year 2nd generation S10 ZR2s,some extended cab long beds, and even one extended cab dually, then stopped. I believe they only made them through the '90s and stopped again. I wonder if my promos will ever be worth much, like the earlier ones that go for $200+. Has anyone else seen late model plastic dealer promo models?

Re: Dealer Promos
Here are some of the later promos. The real trucks are hitting the 20 year mark,so finding new old stock promos only available from GM dealerships should be gaining value. They cost about $15 new:

Re: Dealer Promos
I wished I kept the ones my dad had back in his years with GM. I took a split window corvette and blew it up with fire crackers one day! I got the snot beat out of me for that. That was the worse wopping I ever got. My dad is 89 now and I remember a 72 RED truck at the house but I haven't seen it in years. I told him if they ever see it I wanted it. He said OK. If I remember right it had a plack with it for him selling the most trucks that year are something to that effect. I sure hope he kept it.

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs. |
