Bench seat lowered? Has it been done?

Has anyone ever lowered there bench seat so there is more room?. I do see alot of people put buckets in from another vehicle or relocate the tank to the rear of the truck. A few inches lower would really be great!

I can see how it will give you more head room, but if head room is an issue I would think leg room is too. Dropping the bench seat will put you closer to the pedals. I would mock something up before you start cutting and welding. It seems to me like you would be putting yourself too close to the pedals.

Re: Bench seat lowered? Has it been done?

I did it with a newer model bench seat from a mid 90's truck. I had an extra frame. I just cut out about 1 3/4" out of it and welded it back together. That was about all I could take out of it because the hump on the floor. Seeks to be fine so far. I am still in the process of getting the truck back on the road after 18+ plus under a shed.

I've done a couple of sets because I like the seat below the rear window. Anyway, you will loose some leg room but for me it was still comfortable to drive. Keep in mind that there are 3-4 different versions of seat sliders in these trucks, I believe (lolife99) has a thread on this subject that maps some of this out..
