61-63 15" hubcaps.

Found these 4 chrome ones on craigslist in New Hampshire ($35 with shipping). I went to Massena NY to pick them up today. One is torn open. Has anyone had any success welding these? They must be stainless, we tried a magnet on them and they don't attract.
Picked up a painted one from EvilBay ($11 with shipping) at the same time.
I don't have 15" wheels, I'm thinking of turning these into wall sconces.
These trucks are such an addiction!

SCORE! I've been casually looking for a similar set for my '62. I want to try and adapt them to my later 16" bump wheels by adding clips or ?. I need to bail on my current set as they are from the wrong era and are now bugging me.

Re: 61-63 15" hubcaps.

The 16" eight lug bump wheels I'm using take a big cap nearly 12" inside. Since the early caps are smaller, they would sit on top of the bumps and stick out a bit, but that's kind of how the 3/4 ton split rim clip caps fit anyway.

Just remembered that factorystock corrected me in the past , 15" with nubs, not clips. Thank's factorystock.

Re: 61-63 15" hubcaps.

I've got a decent set of four, but they're painted. Know anyone who's tried chroming a painted cap? Would there be a noticeable difference from an original?

Re: 61-63 15" hubcaps.

I had some original painted caps plated for my trailer. They turned out well.
