Enough Patina,
Trade a atv for this beast today (1970) wondered if it had enough Patina or if it was to far gone..lol
 Its got a real good sounding motor in it and it runs out real well, cab seems solid expect for the rockers and corners (normal around here) and it has a nice wood grain 3 spoke steering wheel on it and had a brand new in the package heater contol switchs for my 69 . Also has new tires and a new carb on it as well. I really got it for the motor and tranny the 1970 350/350 is the year i need to go back into my 70 SS Nova to atleast have the correct year motor and tranny in it, but who nows i might just do some repair on this trucks body and run it..

The atv was ok but it had a rough life being a mud/water quad it had some issuse but i told the guy about so it was a fair enough trade for both parties.
i forgot the good side..lol

Dump another motor in it, paint it all one color, fix what irritates you, keep gas in it (and the battery charged) and rock it when you need it. Looks like the other stuff on the ranch may be too nice to do real work in!
 ***EDIT***Just noticed the loaded down late model. Use it when you don't have to do "other" work.

The bed is not to good only the drive side bed side is good.
Iam going to think on what's going to happen with it, I was going to resto rod it and still might but I won't do anything for awhile with it. It's in good enough shape I don't think I would part it down , if I do take the motor/tranny I would stick a BB back in it. Posted via Mobile Device |

That would make a great driver. I think I'd do minimum body work and an el cheapo paint jib and run it. I really like the tool box,too. The paddle-type handle boxes were usually made by the service body truck companies like Reading,Morrison,Knapheide,etc. and really well built.I always painted them to match. There were cheaper versions sold at Central Tractor,TSC,etc. that were adequate.Then plastic ones came out and I thought,"what a mistake". Guys would say,"but these won't rust". Well I never had a steel one rust out and if you put good automotive paint on them (or kept up with the paint that came on them) they looked great forever. That plastic crap ended up sagging if you actually put tools in them. Next they started putting some "steel" in them for strength...ya think? But won't that rust? You can tell I have a thing for proper truck equipment. Now,everything's diamond plate aluminum and mostly still cheaper quality than good ole steel. I like a box to match,not be a piece of bling. The better aluminum ones look like coffins,I think. I have an el cheapo aluminum one on my white '72 and keep thinking about tearing it down and powder coating it white. Any way,over and out...nice old truck

I hear yeah on those plastic boxes they were just not a real good idea, this box is nice and solid so its going to get fixed back up I will see about getting it powder coated so it will last awhile.
My wife don't think i need 4 trucks so I might end up selling my 05 work truck fixing this 70 and using it for the work truck, just really like how easy the old iron is to work on VS this new junk they are putting out these days. Posted via Mobile Device |
