I don't think so.
They might lessen the amount you have to trim.

I always trim the a-arm on every 67-87 truck I lower.
Then you can install any 15" wheel without worry.

I always do it also (even the 88-98's)... just incase you ever need to run a spare for example.

Trimming the A-Arms doesn't really take all that long, either. I'm with Keith; I would trim them anyhow.

Mine have the curved lip trimmed back at the outer angle starting and ending at about the bumpstop bracket. I have another pair I need to trim before paint, but haven't gotten that far. Scot trimmed the ones currently on my truck, but he lined me out on the old '79 I had. Drill a hole in the lip where you want to start and stop the trimming, then use a die grinder to cut through. I hope this helps a little.

These are trimmed already.
(in the area of the blue tape)

After trimming,... you still need to mount the wheel, at ride height, and turn them left and right and verify no rub.

The wheel in the last picture has a 4" BS.

You are basically trimming that side "gutter" back a little.

Just make sure you check fitment when done.
I usually place all the truck weight on the lower a-arm (with a floor jack), and spin the wheel.

I have trimmed them "just not quite enough" and peeled off an inside wheel weight.
Check clearance with the wheels straight and turned both directions.

I consider 4" BS the max with a 15" wheel.
(even with the trimmed a-arm)

So the thread you reposted says 8" rallys have a 4.25 backspace and the 7" 3 5/8' so I will need the 7" for an everyday driver.

I would run the 7's up front.
They help hide the wider front track width issue on these trucks.

I'm not going to argue the 4.25" BS on the 8" ralley wheels in gringolocos thread,... but all I have ever measured are 4" BS.

I just went and measured two of my 8" ralley wheels.
I get 4-1/16" BS,... at the most.

I measured my 6.5in and my 8in rally's and I got 4.25 on both.

I ran the 6.5 van rallies on the front of mine with no trimming of the LCAs and no clearance issues. Have 3 inch DMJ spindles w/ 2 inch springs.

i am running stock 8" ralleys, i had to trim the lca a lot and mine still rub, i can turn the steering wheel about a turn and a quarter before they rub. how far can i go and still be safe, i don't want to remove more than i have to.

I have the djm spindles as well and had to grind just a little bit off the very top of the spindle to run the stock rallys.
