Re: blower motor resistor
Its left of the blower motor, Bolted to the HVAC case, Check the harness for melted/burned terminals, If it is get a "pigtail" from GM & splice it in.

Re: blower motor resistor
There is an extended warranty issued by gm on these trucks. There's a good chance you could get a new resistor and pigtail installed by gm at no charge.

Re: blower motor resistor
I just had that done on an '03, It's only covered on trucks under 150,000 miles or in service 10 years or less, which-ever comes first. I made it by about a half of a month. Otherwise, I think the bill would have been around $160.00.

As they said it is in the air duct under the glove compartment by the blower motor. The resistor is actually in the air way, remove the cover, then remove the two screws holding it in as shown above. And be sure to check for burned/melted terminals or you will likely burn it up quickly again from excess resistance.

Re: blower motor resistor
The resistor is around thirty dollars but the pigtail is around 75 dollars. Then add on the labor time.

Re: blower motor resistor
Cured mine. I was lucky enough to have it covered under the recall notice (10 years or 150,000 miles, made it by 2 months!) Most dealerships have the parts in stock because of it being such a wide spread problem. With labor it will run you about $160.00. LMC also carries the resistor and matching wiring pig-tail (Probably a Taiwan nock-off) but its a fairly straight-forward plug-and-play deal. Good luck!

Re: blower motor resistor
Is this something a dealer has to do? Or can i do this? And is the resistor in the same spot on a 2003 as they are on the older 99hitman to 2002the silverado? Thanks again for the help

Re: blower motor resistor
Real glad you guys were discussing this. I just picked up an 05 Tahoe & #5 is out but she's got 141k on the ticker. I'll take it in & see if they will do it under recall. THANKS a bunch!!
