Radio instillation??????

Ok I have looked and cant find what I am looking for....

The PO of this truck cut the area in the dash where the radio is installed. I need some ideas on how others have installed thier radios.

My camera isnt working, so I cant post a pic of the dash.

Thanks

Re: Radio instillation??????

Here's my dash when I bought the truck - PO also cut the dash for a new style radio

Got some patch pieces from a donor dash at a local wrecker and welded them in, and painted:

Bought an Autosound USA-630 deck from ebay and installed it in the rebuilt dash. Love the classic look when it's turned off.

Don't have pictures of it, but looks factory once the dash bezel is back on

kept it "stockish" in the 79
found an delco AM FM CB CASS put two smaller fronts in where one was
can't wait to get the rear "stock" in 4X10s in the ashtray area, with stock grills from my 88 burb
both 78/79 were stock one speaker am only radio

Re: Radio instillation??????

If I were you, I would get some aircraft aluminum and make new face plates for your dash and install whatever design radio that you want in it. The aluminum is thin enough and stiff enough that it will support anything that you want to do. Paint to your color desire and go with it. You will have to cut the aluminum with something like a jig saw, but it is worth the effort. Mount the radio to the face plate and them mount the plate to the dash trim with screws.
