Hi all, I started this build in feb 2011 and Im not done yet but it should be running soon. This is my first truck and I love it. I didnt know a lot about these trucks so insted of taking my time and planning it out I just started buying things. Bad idea. first thing I got was new wheels and tries. 15x10 mt classic 2's and 4 goodyear duratrac 33x12.50's. Don't get me wrong I like them but what I should have done was get a 8 lug setup and at least 35". Because I would like to get a dana60/14bolt. So woulda coulda shoulda I guess.. So I'll keep them tell there bald and upgrade later. This was how it looked when I got it home. With the new wheels. More pics comming its come a long way. Standerd stuff on this truck, 350,sm465,np205,dana44 and a 12 bolt and lots of rust.Just a preview, new cab, clip, superlift 4" all spring lift. 1998 350 vortec and howell efi.

The cab was a rusty junk box. So I found a 68 cab that was in good shape. So I started the rebuild. I didnt have anything to get the cab off with so I started cutting it up. new cab in the background.

I lost a lot of pic but i striped it down and sandblasted the frame and i painted it with ace rust stop in flat black. Put the new cab on with new body mounts from lmc and put the axles back under it. I swap these axles out later.

I found a 350 vortec with a edelbrock carb intake and all the accessories for only $250.00 and it caust me a $1,000 to have it rebuilt. sm465 and np205 were cleaned and painted and a new clutch was put in. The clip is off of a 70 and i painted the hole thing ace flat black and called it good.

well the truck sat for a month or to without a bed and someone called the city on me. I was mad at first but I understand that they don't want people with cars sitting in a foot of grass with a dog tied to it. But come on. it was a complete truck all the same color just missing the bed. o well can't fight the government. So I called the city and asked them what they wanted me to do. The guy was cool about it. He told me to just get the bed on it and he'll buy me some time. Then he told me to get it running, even if it's only a few seconds. Then he said that if someone complains that they won't be able to do anything about it. Well the good that came out of this is that it lit a fire under my ass and I got to work... so i started getting all the little things and my wallet started getting skinny. got the bed on and spray painted it to match. I called up howell EFI and they sent me a nice tbi kit. This is where im at now. I think I have my fuel sistem all figured out. The kit that Howell sent me came with everything. Holley 670 tb, super nice wh, brain box, fuel line, fuel pump ect. Now all I need is a fuel tank. As you will see in the pic below I got the bed on and the I started looking on CL for a truck bed tool box. Found a nice deep husky with locks for $75. My plan is to buy a blazer gas tank from MTS (pn#2042) and put it in the truck box. It's 21 gal like a normal one but it's made out of plastic. Ive done the mesurements and it looks like everything will fit. Is this ok? I didnt think it would cause any problems but maybe Im not thinking of something? I know that most people put that tank between the frame rails but this way it would be protected.

Well I've installed the adapter and Holley 670 tb on the truck. The cab on my truck is a 68 so it has the floor mounted gas pedal so I'm going to swap it out for the 72 style peddle. Not because it's a bad setup but I just like the later style better IMO. Now I'm going to order the blazer/suburban polymer 21 gal tank from MTS part # 2042 and mount it in the tool box. Now I'm a new member and this is my first build so if anyone thinks I could do something different or better please let me know! Well I guess that I've gone into fast forward mode with with this thread. Sorry I'm just trying to get caught up to now. My wife and I just had a new baby girl on aug 20th so I haven't had a lot of time to go really indeph thread. But I thought I would get into my goals and plans with this project. I'm happy with the current setup. 350 Vortec and Howell efi, 4" all spring lift. As far as axles I'm ok with the dana44 but the 12 bolt is not to good in off road situations. But it should be ok with just the 33s. On top of that I don't rock crawl. I live in MO so it's more mud than anything. One day I'll upgrade to 1ton axles. But Even then the truck needs to be streetable. Im not trying to build a show truck just a nice reliable truck that I can get around in bad weather, take hunting and camping and play offroad a little. Here are some parts that I've got for the truck. Electric fans from a ford contour . I have a 1ton raidiator and it test fits well with about 2" on each side. Fans are Supposed to put down something like 3,000 cfm. I got them for $30 from my local pic and pull here in kansas city. Also new worn locking hubs. The truck didnt have locking hubs when it got it. Also I'm very lucky to have LMC, classic truck parts, and a used 67-72 parts guy all in the kc area. And lots of salvage yards.

Ya. Not going to be a lot of room for big tools but the tank is only 25 or so in long so the other half of the box will be available. Pros and cons to everything I guess.
