What is this thing?

im not familiar with this box bolted in the drivers side, im guessing its part of the wiring harness. what is it exactly... and is it stock?

it has a scroll wheel on front that has a frequency dial or something of that nature.

Looks like a remote door lock controller, does it have electric door lock solenoids? It mentions servos which could be the solenoids.

I'd venture a guess as it being a trailer electric brake controller but they usually need to be mounted as close to level as is possible. Was the truck a tow vehicle?

What ever it is it's not stock. Do you have wires at the door hinges into the doors? It may be an aftermarket cruise control, is there a diaphragm connected to the carb or magnets strapped to the drive shaft?

it wasnt a tow vehicle. havent seen magents.........now im curious.....i havent seen anything to suspect cruise control...but that would be awesome

ooooooooo. like a little retard i just ran outside with a flashlight. there is a power and engage light on the box, and a cable that connects to the carb where the throttle rod connects.....and some wierd dial that is ziptied to the blinker switch.......could it be an oldschool cruise control? and how do i work it?

Looks like its been there awhile. If it still works you should be able to push the engage button while traveling over 25mph or so and maintain your speed, it should turn off the moment you touch the brakes. Personally I would toss it! Those older units were junk when they were new. There should be a sensor on the driveline, if that's missing it will never work.

nope. old girl has been a carb'd truck her whole life. its cruise control. has a cruise control lever that was ziptied to blinker switch. id like to see if it works and keep it. sure is a nice thing to have, ive never had cruise control on a vehicle before.
