If you can'tlove the one you want, love the one you're with: 1971 C10
Well, I am going to commit. After months of seaching I couldn't find what I wanted (rust free C10 with the right color and options) so I settled on this one. Being on the west coast, I have never purchased anything that was rusty, but it seems that I simply couldn't find a rust free truck, so $700 later, this was sitting in the driveway:
This thread will be a story about the work in progress. Basically, this will be a resto to a solid daily driver, not a frame off show truck, but a solid basic restoration. It will take a while, but I have time. Here's the story: 1971 Custom 10 Deluxe. I am the third owner. The second owner owned it from 1978. Unfortunately while it wasn't necessarily abused, it was used and neglected, sitiing outside, so it's a little weathered. You can see all the phots here: http://s166.photobucket.com/albums/u...cpZZ1QQtppZZ16 ...but here are some to get the idea Here's the good: Completely original, 255 horse 350, Turbo 400, 12 bolt, disc brakes, 5 lug wheels, ochre and black, straight, rust free bed. The bad: Rust, doesn't drive very well, overall, somwhat weathered. Call me crazy, but I am going to save it! Keep posted!! |
