How rare??
So I found a 1966 Chevrolet 4x4 fleetside longbed. The guy says it was factory but there a few things strange to me. The truck is badged as a 10 series but has 8 lug wheels. Is that correct? It is a 6cyl base model (minus the 4x4) and is bone stock. It has alot of rust but an easy save. How rare were these trucks? I think I can get it for 600$ but not too sure if it is worth that. What say ye?

he may have changed the cowl extensions . they do fit from other models and never changed the badgeing. may have installed the heavier axles under it, I did on my 64 4 x 4 panel. id it long wheel base or short. just look at the ser #(vin) and it will tell you what rver that you need to know to identify the truck, providing some one hasn't changed that, the cab or the frame and not notified the MVB. seems that there are quite a few around that screw things up that way ron |

Re: How rare??
If I could get my truck all over again for 6 bones... Id be all over that like white on rice. BTW mines a orig. 4x4 k10 and I swapped the axles to 3/4 ton. Is it rare? Probably not. Do I see alot of them around here? Not really. Do I really like it and is it my favorite truck?....most definitely!

Re: How rare??
I'd say it is more rare than a 2WD truck... Having said that, interested in the VIN also - either K10 swapped onto a 3/4 ton chassis or just an axle swap I'd imagine. With that though - I wouldn't buy it based on "rarity" because once it's altered - rare doesn't really matter anyway - if you want a 4x4 66 and it looks like a good deal to you (sure sounds like one!) then I'd say go for it! If you learn it's not all original, are you still as interested? (I would be!)
Good luck, can't wait to see it. |
