valve cover question

Are there different heights in stock valve covers?

Why I ask...My truck has been spraying oil from somewhere. I found out today, the LH has cracks where the lifters have been hitting them. (that can't be good) I thought they were the originals so I painted them and slapped them on a few months ago. I did find out the heads aren't orginal because the have the small diameter plugs.

My love grows for my foamy friend, with each thirst-quenching elbow bend.
Beer so frosty, smooth, and cold it's paradise pure liquid gold.

11/16ths is what the parts store always tries to sell me...
I'm not familiar with tall or short stock valve covers.

Just trying to figure out why my lifters would be hitting the valve covers on the sides near the carb.

your lifters aren't hitting your valve covers, your rocker arms maybe.
