Shackle Flip HELP
I bought a shackle flip kit from Offroad Designs and shortly after I saw a pic of a guys '72 K-20 lifted with the same kit and the rear wheels looked like they sat out of center in the wheel wells. Is this what I should expect? Does anyone have any pics of their lifted 67-72 with the 4" lift kit?

Re: Shackle Flip HELP
Let me guess-they sit forward of center now? If you only raise the rear mounting point and the spring remains the same lenght it has to move forward. The only way to correct it is to relocate the front brackets rearward, use longer springs, or use off-center blocks (they make em in 1 inch). Keep in mind when you compress the suspension, the leaves get longer and move rearward.

Re: Shackle Flip HELP
I just put a 14bolt under my 69. I used a u-bolt "flip kit" from ORD that puts the u-bolt threaded end "up" instead of down. It swaps the square ubolts for the round ones. The important thing in your case is the u bolt plate has a long notch in it instead of just a hole in the center. This allows you to move the axle fwd or back about an inch. You should get it where you want it before you get the driveshaft made just in case it comes up a little short. The pumpkin is larger on the 14 so you should be ok. I hope I didn't confuse you. Maybe some of the "experts" on here have a better way. Here's some photos of what I'm talking about.

Re: Shackle Flip HELP
Zero rate or mark and drill the axle perch on the axle 1" forward.

Re: Shackle Flip HELP
Yes I have a pair that would work for the rear. I would put them on and see if you can tell a difference. What size springs you got? I could make you some longer front shackles if it sits unlevel.

Those are for the rear which i thought we were talking about, as for front blocks i have seen them but basically no one recommends them

Re: Shackle Flip HELP
i have 4" leaves in the front and a shackle flip in the rear which gives me 4". To alleviate the wheels being off center in the wheel wells someone suggested ORD zero rates as they can adjust for 1' or 1.5" movement. That would bring me to 5" in the rear, I just don't want my rear end sitting higher than the front.

Re: Shackle Flip HELP
So that would make your rear end sit 1 inch taller than the front....? that to me is like seeing the difference in a 37in and a 38in tire, its basically not see able lol but everyone wants something different i prefer my trucks sit like factory where the back is higher so when you put weight on it the truck then sits level

Re: Shackle Flip HELP
it will look ass low to me with 4" all the way around. also zero rates arent blocks because the bolt to the spring and act just like another leaf, but dont change the rate. i.e. zero rate.
