Re: hitch question
Any 3/4 ton or higher worth its salt needs a Class V hitch, With a "cheap" class III hitch I think I would rather bumber pull
This is a fair price for a Draw-tite Class V hitch http://4wheelonline.com/Towing/Draw-....176882.651722 I found the Class V that on my C20 Burb at a wreaking yard.....$20. |

Re: hitch question
Whatever you do, purchase or build, make sure it's quality. If a hitch fails it could be other motorists' lives on the line.
I have a hitch off my 75 C30 you could have for cheap, but shipping would make it expensive. Stop in to your local auto parts store. That is where I bought my hitch for my 05 2500cargo van and my 05 C1500.

Re: hitch question
any place that does new hitches should be able to give a quote over the phone...
means the've done them before,it's not a new truck, so i'd want a place that can do phone quotes, not bring it in and we will see what fits lol

Re: hitch question
Not to hijack, but what is the max towing weight on the bumper?

Re: hitch question
Try Advance Auto Parts website or your local Wal-Mart, both have direct fit class V hitches right on the shelf. I like Advance because you can always find some good coupons online, I am talking about saving 30-40%, and they offer free shipping over $75.
EDIT: Some local Uhaul dealers can also sale and/or install a hitch for you. As well as boat dealers, RV/Camper dealers and 4x4 shops. |

Re: hitch question
I went to www.ecustomhitch.com had pretty good luck with them. I got a Draw-tite class 4 hitch with a 10"drop to clear my step bumper. It was a very sturdy bolt together design, but I went ahead and ran a bead of weld around the seams then repainted it.

Re: hitch question
I bought one for our suburban. It was a Curt hitch from thehitchstore.com QUALITY! Plus they're made in the USA. Give them a look and see whatcha think. I thought about used too, but didn't want to risk something happening down the road. Plus, no holes to drill. Bolted right up. Maybe a little different for the older trucks.

Re: hitch question
I was gonna go with this one by B&W.
http://www.turnoverball.com/products...receiver-hitch The ones for our trucks go for around $150. They don't list what class it falls under but it seems heavy duty enough?
