5.3 swap
Hey everyone. I just picked up a 2001 DBC 5.3 from the junkyard that I wanna throw in my '89 Silverado. I plan to use my 700R4 tranny. Do I need the spacer plate that goes between the crank and the flexplate? I took some measurements and compared them with a regular sbc and everything looks like it would work without it...

Re: 5.3 swap
Yeah, I needed it. Lol. It just bolts on the outside of the flex plate and supports the snout of the torque converter. I've had the swap done for a while now and I'm very happy with it. I'm averaging about 14 mpg in the city and have yet to see what it does on the highway. My guess is 18-19. My dad's '05 Silverado gets 15 city, so I figure mine gets 1 mpg less since its 4x4.

Re: 5.3 swap
Do you have a write up somewhere? I'm thinking of doing the same on my 97 2dr HOE.
