newbie with some questions

hello all, I`m new here but not new to classic chevys
I have had a couple 67-68 long bed 1/2 tons in the past but havent owned a c10 in 20 yrs
I`m lookin at a 69 c10 swb fleetside so my question is what are some major issues to look for as far as rust pron areas, typical problem areas etc...???
I have several motors and transmissions so drivetrain isnt a real issue
it has 5 lug rear hubs and 6 lug front so im assumming the rear was swapped at some point??? so my other question is can i just swap say a 71 or 72 front 5 lug hub onto the existing front spindle or do i have to swap the spindle as well???

thanx for any help!!! Tony

p.s. here is my 71 chevelle hense my user name

Sexy car man. Ya you can swap it. Also companies that make conversion kits like cpp. Look at the rockers, cab corners, and the floor. Although when I bought my truck the hole thing was rusts doors everything. Dam ebay but not many swb around here that people aren't real proud of

Check the inside of the cab around the windshield prone to rust also. Of course inner and outer rockers are normal. Inside of bed also all be fixed just depends on what u want to spend.

Re: newbie with some questions

rockers and cab corners were replace not ttoo long ago so good there the bed up towards the cab has alot of holes in it, will probably need a new floor eventually so???
needs weather stripping and the windsheild is frosted badly so need to replace that, the rest seems fairly solid, brakes are weak, has a worn 327 and 3 speed manual trans, crappy buckets from a van i think, he wants 2000 but im thinkin 1500 is closer to what im willin to pay. so i will make him an offer and get back to you guys with the results.

Re: newbie with some questions

If someone has already replaced the cab corners, i would definitely look close for other areas that might not have been properly repaired. Especially around the windshield. most other areas are a lot easier to fix/replace. Good luck and let us know what happens
