california auction 69 K10

Was looking at trucks in Nevada (online) and come across this 69 . Interesting color combo. Check out the interior !! Starting bid $5.

http://www.northstateauctions.com/auction/18/item/794

I have no connection to this,, thought maybe someone in that area may be interested !

There's a lot of other vehicles and items on this auction !!

Re: california auction 69 K10

Is it just me or does the top of the cab appear to be a different color? It looks black. Weird color combo if its original.

The top is a vinyl top.

Judging by the seats it was restored (or freshened) in the 80's.

Re: california auction 69 K10

oh ok... I didn't see where you could click on the photo gallery. A vinyl top? Is that a dealer install thing or someone's custom touch from the 80's?

The GM top is dealer installed and spray on. The one on that truck has the "strips" and certainly appears to match what the brochure shows.

Re: california auction 69 K10

Did they badge all of the 1/2 tons with a C and then add the "4 wheel drive " emblem ?

Or is this a goof up on the restorers part ?

I've seen other 69 trucks listed as C10 4x4. The K designation started when ?

Re: california auction 69 K10

The VIN has the K in it. I am not sure when 'K' badges began. I know the K was in the VIN at least by 1967, possibly earlier.

[I] found it interesting that the ad states thathe original owner also ordered the next lot for sale at the same time as the truck, a matching yellow 69 Chevelle SS396!

Re: california auction 69 K10

There were never "K" badges, except on Blazers. In 67/68 all trucks had fender badges that were bow ties with 10,20,or 30 under them. 69/70 the base trim trucks had fender badges that read C/10,C/20,C/30,mid-level trucks read Custom/10,20,30,and top of the line read CST/10,20,30. 71/72 base trim trucks became Custom/10,20,30,Custom Deluxe became the mid-level,and on and on...

69/70 the base trim trucks had fender badges that read C/10,C/20,C/30,

So they were badged with the C regardless of 2 or 4 wheel drive ?

I think the 4 wheel drive emblem was only used on 69 and 70's. I guess they figured the front hubs and ride height made it obvious in other years, regardless of the badging.

Bidding has ended. The Chevelle brought ok money. I thought the truck would have brought more than it did.
