C20 power assist steering stabilizer

after going over my new 1967 C20 i noticed that it has a hydraliuc power assisted steering stabilizer that is leaking. i am pretty sure it is not standard or an option, so i am thinking that the previous owner has put it on. has any one else come across this or information on it?

The power steering on 67 C10s was a power slave cylinder setup. I assume the C20s had the same setup.
68 or 69 was the year GM went to the integral power steering sector setup.
The slave cylinders were somewhat prone to leaks.

am i able to get rid of and just put a stand alone stabilizer in there?

I believe we are talking about the same thing here. You're calling it a steering stabilizer and I'm calling it a power steering assist slave cylinder. If your cylinder has two hydraulic lines running from the left end of the cylinder to a power steering pump on the engine then it's a power steering slave cylinder setup. It can be removed by finding a non power steering center link to replace it with. I do not know if the pitman arm and tie rod ends are the same or not. I realize, being in Australia, you are limited on old truck parts resources. These trucks are much nicer to drive with power steering. You may be able to rebuild yours.

I found this thread with pics for you. From what I can find there different pitman arms and tie rod ends for power assist and non power assist steering.

Looking up power steering online for 67-72 chevys most show a power steering sector instead of this ram assist type. As far as I know all 67's with power steering came with the power ram assist as shown above only.
