Re: Mating vintage air with 04 ac compressor....HELP
i'm doing the same thing with an 03 gen 3 compressor. this is the closest thing i've found.
http://www.nostalgicairparts.com/air...10s20f-593.php the 03 up compressors for trucks are different than other gen 3 compressors. for what they cost i'm thinking i'm going to take my vintage air hoses and the factory gen 3 hoses to a local shop and have them mated together. At least at this point thats my plan. |

I was under the impression that you could not use late compressors without the factory computer because the variable displacement part needs the computer?

Re: Mating vintage air with 04 ac compressor....HELP
The variable displacement is built into the compressor, It's not computer or electrically controlled.
Variable displacement compressors do not work well with THX/Expansion valve A/C systems. The Delco/Harrison V7 is the only Variable displacement compressor I know of used on Gen III engines....On 4th F-bodies, Corvette & GTO....Leaking pig. 99-02 LS trucks used a Delco/Harrison H6...Fixed displacment....Also a Leaking pig. 03-up Used a Denso 10S compressor....Fixed displacement...Fail internally (Oil slugging), Breaks belts, Makes noise. My Denso on my burb has around 40K on it...Starting to make noise. I highly recommend using a Sanden compressor that Vintage Air calls for. Re: Mating vintage air with 04 ac compressor....HELP
Thanks Clinebarger! I don't want to invest in the sanden Set up right now....way over budget. The engine only has about 24,000 and Im hoping that the compressor works with the vintage air and does not do any damage?
My compressor GM# is 15081861 however local chevy dealer looked it up and he said the part number has changed to*19130450?. I've been on and off on this project since 2006! Posted via Mobile Device |

If you have a compressor that has been sitting open since 2006 I doubt it will work anyway. There is a lot of moisture soaked into your oil by now.

a local hose shop should be able to make the ac hoses any way you want.
