I have a 69 C-10 307 that I have been trying to troubleshoot no spark. I replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, coil and still no spark. It is a brand new battery. I checked the voltage at the coil and it is only showing 6.5 on the positive side and 1.5 on the negative. Is this the problem? I figured I would ask you guys as I am waiting on the shop manual CD to get here Wednesday. Thanks in advance!

One more thing, I also replaced the condenser. It had an external one, so thats what I got, but when I pulled the points, it also had one internal to the points. My understanding is that there was either and external or internal condenser.

Going out on a limb here, but what you think is an external condenser MAY be a radio noise suppressor. Others will chime in soon for your no spark problem.

The one piece points and condensor came about in the late 60's or early 70's with the concept being that they were quicker for the tune up guy to change.

With the cap off and the rubbling block on the points on one of the points of the cam on the distributor shaft what is the gap you have? It should be about .016.

Just off hand I am guessing that you either set the points with the rubbing block against one of the flats of the distributor cam or you didn't set them at all and they are too wide.

Also do you have the resistor bypass wire hooked up that comes up from the outside pole (small marked R) on the solenoid to the + side of the coil? If you don't you aren't getting a full 12 volts to the coil to start the engine.

I got it figured out. I had my point gap way off. Engine runs like a champ after sitting for 15 years. Now to get the brakes working and get this thing on the road!
