A 6.2 is a LS3/L99/L92 style motor. For what hes charging you, there isn't nothing on the street that can take out what one of these can.

You toss in a mild cam and some long tubes and it's lights out.

We've done a couple of nice LS3 427/429 motors that are daily driven.

Really a winning combo with that tranny in a truck too.

Re: 6.2 vortec ???????

You need to subscribe to ls1tech and do some research.there are plenty of 6.2 builds showing what they can do.just watched a video of a cam only 6.2 in a 55 Chevy on a 150 shot make a 9.80 pass on 10 inch tires.im doing a 5.3 in mine I really wanted a 6.0 or 6.2.they will haul .i have a 468 bbc in my chevelle it's nice but it's heavy.the ls engines are light and come stock with roller valve train from the factory.

Cams run around 375.00 .you will want to do springs as well usually around 150.00.add long tubes.the cams worth at least 50 crank hp with the headers adding another 25-30. Plus a tune you should be able to make 500 crank hp.ive seen it.my 5.3 will make 425 with cam ,ported heads and carb conversion stock bottom end.

Re: 6.2 vortec ???????

Any LS will do a nice job, doesn't have to be a 6.2. That 6.2/6L80 combo however would be nice. If you are swapping this into a 4x4 truck it would be best to make sure the adapters are made for your transfer case and this relatively new 6L80 trans before you go plunking money down on the drivetrain.

Alot of 5.3's for chump change now, and 6.0's aren't bad either if you can find a low mileage one. I did a 2004 6.0 swap in my 4x4 blazer and couldn't be happier. Swapped in a beefed 4L60 along with it and drive it every day.

If I had any complaint of the newer stuff in retro swaps it's the cylinder deactivation and/or variable cam timing setups that make the retro swap a bit more expensive starting in about 2006 or 2007. It can all be removed and changed around, or even use it as is, but it costs more money to do so.

Re: 6.2 vortec ???????

I completely understand. If you knew me, you might say I'm a good definition of old school as that's all I deal with, own and drive (60's 70's muscle). After having a few 4th gens I can sure appreciate that LS engine though, so I keep a couple of them in the stable. 15 degree heads are a wonderfull thing.
