Ok, Turbo Tech Question/Thermodynamics question

Procharger doesn't make a bracket to put one where i want it....so I'm looking at going turbo again. That said; does crossover pipe length matter? As a part of that, does UNEQUAL crossover pipe length matter?

Let me clarify. If I build a single turbo, it needs to mount off to the side and just forward of my passenger side head (lq4). I would use truck manifolds or my LS2 manifolds flipped. This means that the pipe from the passenger manifold to the merge at the turbo flange would be like 14", but the crossover from the drivers side head would be like 34". I'm used to seeing "equal length" turbo manifolds or twins. Is this a problem, with one side feeding air "faster" or am I just over thinking it, and it would just get lost in the ether with all that air flow.

Seen lots of single turbos off to one side with unequal length up-pipes.

Yes, single turbo it will be fine. If you were doing twins, you'd want them equal length.

Re: Ok, Turbo Tech Question/Thermodynamics question

thanks this is my first time with a turbo and efi so im learning i had to hire some of the tunning and still messing with boost controller and ign comtuter and the big stuff 3 computer.
i know i can buil boost pretty quick with this large turbo it is a p/t 101 rated at 2100 hp
so i'm pretty sure you can do what i did on the location of yours.

so how do you think my turbo engine is going to look in my 66 chevy short bed step side lol. well it may go there but would use a 80 to 88mm turbo on it.

Re: Ok, Turbo Tech Question/Thermodynamics question

I'm sure it would look just fine!

I had looked at the 76, 80 and 88mm turbo's for my application. I won't reach the power limits of any of them most likely, as even the 76 is good like 700. I'd be running a cam only motor with the turbo, until I feel like opening it back up again to do more internal work.

Re: Ok, Turbo Tech Question/Thermodynamics question

This is my setup, and it works great. Unless you are after a max-effort, razor's edge setup, the hotside piping is very forgiving, regarding routing, lengths, etc.
