Scored a divorced 205 w x-member today

Found my 205 I have been looking for today. Had my choice of a 10 spline input or a divorced setup for $150. The divorced will work much better for what I'm doing. Got lucky in that its still bolted to the factory cross member and its the same width as my K10 frame rails.

I think its out of a late 70s dodge, but I'm trying to figure that out by casting numbers since theres no tag attached. I'm hoping that internally all 205s are pretty much the same. Otherwise, it appears and feels to work just fine.

UPDATE: NP202. Damn!

Doesn't look right for a 205. Shift rail position is strange and no 3-bolt cover inbetween rear output and front output bearing support.

Could be a 200? Not up on other cases. But not a 205, also early 70s possibly late 60s.

Don't think it is a NP200, I had an International with one of those and it looked nothing like the one in OP's picture.

Re: Scored a divorced 205 w x-member today

Yep-it is in fact a 202. Lesson learned. I should have been smarter on what I was getting. I trusted the guy knew what he had, he drove up in a highly modified CJ with long travel suspension and Dana 60 hi-pinion axles.

It "looked" right to me, but being a divorced unit, I expected it to look a little different since it didn't have the figure 8 or round bolt pattern.

Well see if the guy makes it right or I tossed away $150.

I'm not sure what the pros and cons are of a NP202, but it might still work for your application. The only things I can think of is parts maybe harder to get. Worst case: If the guy doesn't take it back. Try selling it. Good Luck!

Re: Scored a divorced 205 w x-member today

The guy took the NP200 back and gave me a good NP205 for $100. He felt bad and didn't know what he had. Anyway, all is good. Going to go thru the 205 and change the input and run it behind my 700r4 until she blows or I find my NV4500/241 or 205 combo.

Advance Adapters makes an output shaft for the 700r for the 10 spline 205. It requires a factory TH350 to NP205 adapter.
