My new "old" 72 work truck. Thanks to all you members for your advise!
Back in 1972 my grandfather and my dad opened American Marine, a boat repiar shop. He had a 1972 c10 as ther first shop truck. Fast foward 40 years and I wanted to somewhat of a tribute truck to my grandfather who we lost 6 years ago. So here is my version of a shop truck. Not quite his beat up c10, but I have no doubt he would approve.
The powerplant is a sbc 350 that my grandfather built in the early 70's. He built it for a project that never came about. Sat in storage for almost 40 yrs and with a little tlc she fired right up and has been going strong for almost 2 yrs now!! Thanks to all you members for your answers and support when I was in a jam!! |

Did you say "work truck"? Now you're speaking my language! Let's see it. BTW,nice truck in the pictures. Hey,I get it,you're like me. A work truck can be as handsome of a pride & joy as any Sunday driver...if not more! Maybe more because it speaks volumes for the company for pride, care, pride, attention to detail, pride, success, pride, and mostly P-R-I-D-E.

Re: My new "old" 72 work truck. Thanks to all you members for your advise!
She is my daily driver sun, rain and snow. Although I only live a few miles from my shop.
I haul dozens of boats annually up to 10,000 lbs and some light plowing in the winter. Got a mico lever lock on the front brakes and just finished disc brake conversion with p. brake to help hold her on the boat ramps. They are pretty steep around here. And the 465 with granny will pull a house down! She might not ride or tow as good as a new truck she does it with a hell of a lot more style! If anyone know where to get some real rally's in an 8 lug I'm in. The side pipes look good but don't sound good enough. And the cheap heat shield rust real fast if you actually drive the truck. They aregonna go soon Posted via Mobile Device |

What is the micro lock.? Is that like a line lock set up?
Do you have any pictures of how the side pipes are mounted.? And do you know the brand of them, I might just have to put a set on mine as I don't care for the glass packs that are on it now. Posted via Mobile Device |

The pipes are from summit. Patriot pipes. I have them mounted to the inside of the rockers and bottom of the bed side.
The brake lock is a MICO ( not micro. My typo). It is a mechanical lever in the cab. Gets hooked in the brake line. Flip the over and step on the pedal it locks the pressure in the line and keeps brakes engaged. Like a line lock, but when I'm on a steep ramp with 6000lb boat behind me, I don't want to have to worry about a little solenoid keeping my brakes engaged for 10-15 minutes. As long as there are no leaks in your lines the mico lever lock will hold for a long time! Do a google search for mico lock. Mico is the company. Posted via Mobile Device |

I know it is your truck, but I'd be real hesitant to plow with it. All that salt (I know you are aware) just causes more damage. But, it's your truck....and it looks nice.

I went back and forth about the plowing. But I built the truck to drive and use. I have my first kid on the way, will be a good RE-restoration in another 15 years with them.

Thanks. I forgot the name of the wheels, but I think I got them from summit. They were black when I got them. Scuffed me up and painted them rally silver. Found a set of stainless trim rings on eBay.
