Factory roof rack option?
Does anyone know if a roof rack was offered as a factory option in 71-72? I picked up a 72 4x4 and it's got a rack on it, appears to be original to the time but not sure if it actually is. I'm planning on running the top w/ rack on my 71 2wd if this was indeed an option. I'll snap a few pics this evening and get em posted up. Thanks for any info ya'll may have.

Re: Factory roof rack option?
Never heard of a factory one but it's possible it was a popular dealer installed option back in the day, kinda like the "factory" roll bars that weren't really factory options...I bet someone on here knows for sure

Re: Factory roof rack option?
Yeh, I'm kinda diggin the look of it myself. Hopefully I'll get around to putting it on the 71 pretty soon. Too many irons in the fire all here at once plus our first kid is less than 4 months away from poppin out and I've not even thought about a nursery yet. On the bright side though, I think I've about decided which vehicle we won't to bring our newborn home in!! Probably gonna be our newest addition, a one owner 63 Impala 4-door hardtop or it may still be the blazer, but at least it's down to two now......I think

That kind of looks like the racks they offered on the big station wagons back in the day. There are probably still some around, and they're not too hard to install, just a whole bunch of screws. I used well nuts when I put one on my old Buick wagon.

Re: Factory roof rack option?
IFF the information I was given in person by http://vintagechevytrucks.com/ is correct, then I believe that either is, or is a modified factory roof rack as I have the same mounting style and the same bottom cross bars on the factory one I picked up from them. Another thread with one closer to mine: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=175141
