Vintage A/C product... whos got one?
Hello
Well I am far away from needing a vintage a/c unit, and from what I have read it is one of the best. For those of you that havnt seen my build, I am building a 4bt cummins 61 GMC.... My question is my truck is equipped with the deluxe heater (I believe that is correct) it is the one that has the huge box in the engine compartment with the core in the engine compartment...anyway my question is, When I buy the "vintage Air sure fit" do I discard all my gm heat stuff... and get rid of the big box in the engine compartment? Thanks in advance |

Here's a link to their download page. Quite a bit of info there.

You remove the box for VA, it is not needed.

In the instructions from the link above, it shows removing the pass side air door and blocking off the hole? Is that not nessary? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Vintage A/C product... whos got one?
The instructions do call for that, but I'm still debating on whether I want to do that, or not (I have the older style cable operated vent grill). If you have the standard vent with the external handle, you probably will since there's not enough room next to the blower housing for the handle to move through it's full range.

All the old heater stuff, inside and out, is removed. Blockoffs are provided fot the rectangular hole in the firewall and the passenger side air vent. I thought about modifying the open/close handle by shortening or joggling it downward. I think either would work if you want to retain the vent. They only have you block it off because of access problems.

My vents are still installed, I would recommend building your own kit usin a gen4 evap and using the factory heater delete plates.

I didnt use the sure fit. I believe it's the gen 4. It has better control capabilities and I used a billet bulkhead out of the firewall.
