Re: Austin CL: 68 Panel For Sale (not mine)
I might be picky but for 3K I'd expect the tail/stop lights and brakes to work. Not a bad start for someone wanting a 68 Panel thought.

Re: Austin CL: 68 Panel For Sale (not mine)
If a guy had a 1970 1/2 ton 4X4 suburban with a rusty body,,,, would it be that hard to put the frame/drivetrain from the 70 under the panel making it a 4X4? Big job?

If you have a way to lift the body, not hard at all.

Re: Austin CL: 68 Panel For Sale (not mine)
I have a 2 post lift in the shop...so thats not a problem I'm just not much of a fab guy so it needs to be a fairly clean swap.

If it is an original V8-auto with a solid body it would make a good starting point......not much available in panels at that price point

Re: Austin CL: 68 Panel For Sale (not mine)
I did this with a 69 4x4 3/4 ton suburban and a 67 panel. The biggest problem is the tranny hump but I used a 3 inch body lift. If I did it again I would lose the body lift and cut and use the 4x4 floor and hump.

Being a panel and the condition... I think the price is in the ball park.

Re: Austin CL: 68 Panel For Sale (not mine)
Its me that did the swap. A 67 panel to a 72 4x4 suburban chassis. Its an exact fit. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. There ia a picture on page 5 of the pictures of panel trucks at the top of the page,
John
