Can I swap cabs and clips 55-59?

Hi Everyone,

I have been told that I can't put a 1959 chevy front clip on a 55-57 cab because there are subtle differences in those cabs. Is this true? Anyone with experience doing this? Thanks for the help.

The only differences is the sheetmetal of course. The 58 frame is close to 3 inches longer in front of the radiator mounts and the hood hinges bolts location is a little different. This is all easily solved. I have a 58 cab with 55 front sheetmetal.

Thanks Kabwe....so, if I wanted to put a 55-57 cab on a 58-59 frame and front clip or a 58-59 front clip on a 55-57 truck, either scenario shouldn't be a problem given the minor fixes needed?

Yes if you have a 58-59 and you want to use a 55-57 cab on it with 58-59 front clip would only have the minor worry of drilling a new hole for the 58-59 hood hinge.

If you have a 55-57 frame you would have to add that three inches to the front of the frame which is easy. You can make it out of flat stock, or square tubing, and since you are in Cali you can have the ones I cut off.lol I still have them.
