Re: late model rear ends

77-79 Lincoln Mark V or Ford Thunderbird (T-Bird is drum brake)
Ford 9 inch
63 1/2 inches wide
Factory disc brakes w/ 12inch rotors
5 X 5 bolt pattern (stock 15X8 GM Ralley wheels bolt on)
Factory sway bar
Parking brake easely adapted
Gears are easley changed.
No more C-Clips
Driveshaft must be shortened and use a conversion u-joint
The most gear ratio and locker/posi choices of any rear end ever made.

The 1994-96 Chevrolet 9C1/Impala SS Disc brake rear is a good choice as well although i'm not sure of the overall width. Not as heavy duty as the ford but it already has the posi and lower gear. The Lincoln comes with either a 2.75 or 3.00 but gear sets are a dime a dozen for the 9 inch.
