New Member- Just picked up a 1972 Cheyenne Super

Hello everyone this is my first post to the site. I just picked up a 1972 Cheyenne Super Short Beb with which I think are some nice options. It has a 350, Auto, Bucket Seats, Tilt steering, factory a/c, and a tachometer. It has 86k original miles. It looks to be very well kept and no rust. I will probably be asking a lot of questions as to what came standard and what other options the truck has. It did not have the SPID so i need to know what options it does have other than the few I listed so I can get one made. I took a bunch of pics. I will put up some more if yall want. I have been reading the site for a while and there seems to be alot of info on here. There are alot of nice truck on the site. Pretty excited about the truck been wanting for one for a long time.

Re: New Member- Just picked up a 1972 Cheyenne Super

That is a gorgeous truck, I would only be lucky to have one that nice.

Your build sheet is your only other shot at finding the options it came with from the factory. Judging by the truck you won't find the build sheet, it looks like it's been restored so the build sheet is probably long gone.
Some people have found the build sheet glued to the bed between the bed and the cab. Behind the gas tank. In the back of the seat. In the seat springs under the seat. Under the carpet/rubber pad.
Without a SPID or build sheet there is no way of knowing what factory options it had.

There are some people that have some wood stickers that match factory pretty close. If it bugs you, you can probably find an instrument cluster bezel that looks much more factory than the one you have now. The one you have looks nice, but in the photo the wood appears to be way off from the factory look.

Again, super nice truck. I am not trying to pick it apart. I would love to have a truck that nice.

Re: New Member- Just picked up a 1972 Cheyenne Super

Thanks guys for the compliments! I have a couple pics of the cluster and glove box. Can you tell me if the woodgrain looks like factory on the cluster and glove box. IT sure looks like to me by the others I have seen but could be wrong. The other pics were a bad angle. I will look for the build sheet around in the cab or under carpet.

That wood grain picture looks much better! The lighting in the other made it almost look like tiger strips.
What a beautiful truck!!!

Great looking truck!!

The GB woodgrain is not OEM but the cluster bezel looks to be.

Cool thanks for the info. Is there anywhere I can get OEM woodgrain stickers? Also Does anyone know if these mirrors were standard or optional? I think there are the sport mirrors is that correct? Dint know if they came standard with cheyenne super or were they an option. Did the bumper gaurds come standard or an option as well?

You bet - Rarely do NOS OEM woodgrain interior parts come available but you could locate a used piece on the parts board with enough luck. Your GB door looks great though...I'd stick with it!

Those "sport" mirrors are base equipment on most or all models i believe - my super has optional below eyeline mirrors that are larger and other mirror options were possible. The bumper guards were not standard equipment but a dealer accessory as far as I know.

Wow thats a clean truck! Can you take a pic of the SPID (sticker inside of the glovebox door) ? That shows all the options when built. Great score!

. . . .

That IS a beautiful truck . . . with only 86,000 miles, the engine must look pretty original. Can you take a couple of pictures ? I would especially like to see if there are any "remains" of the valve cover decals ( that would say 8 350 ) THANKS !!!

Welcome from NY! Super-sweet ride you got there! Talk about all the right options... Where did you find it? That truck would draw a stampede on E-Bay.

Re: New Member- Just picked up a 1972 Cheyenne Super

real nice truck! I tend to agree with the above comment about keeping the woodgrain you have on the gb, but if it's keeping you awake at night, this is probably the guy to buy it from - http://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-1972-Ch...item3f1caefc52 or perhaps talk to jonathan (VA72C10) as he sourced some from me - but I "think" it was from this same gent.
