'72 K20 rear ends?
Howdy to all, I just blew the rear in my 72 K20 yesterday. Haven't got it apart yet. I beleive its an eaton. I'm new to this chevy stuff so any help on identification and location of used parts would be helpful.
Thanks, Niko |

If it's a Chevy it's probably an Eaton. If it's a GMC it's probably a Dana 60. An eaton has a round pumpkin and a drop out 3rd member. The dana has an irregular shaped diff cover.
If it's an eaton and you problem is with the 3rd member, you can swap in another 3rd member from either a 2wd or 4wd eaton equipped truck. Most 3/4 ton 67-72 chevys came with them. Most common ratio is 4:11, though 4:56 was available. Best to find a replacement close by as these are heavy to ship.
