anyone used advanced adapters to do nv4500 swap?

i have a 68 4x4 that I want to swap the nv4500 into. will the original sm465 bellhousing work with this or do i have to get the bellhousing adapter?

Re: anyone used advanced adapters to do nv4500 swap?

while it may not be too much help, i DID do a NV4500 swap on my 69 2wd. originally i had the NP435GL transmission. i used my existing bellhousing, AA adapter plate, and the Dodge version transmission. The adapter plate worked okay, but did require a couple additional holes to be drilled through the adapter plate because for some reason they didn't all match up. not exactly sure what the problem was, but it currently works with the pre-existing clutch linkage as they advertised.

well im pretty sure the nv4500 will bolt right up to the bellhousing cause it is a gm trans. and when i look up the aa bellhousing adapter it says it also works for sm465

Whoa... thats not entirely true. The early 93-94 NV4500s have a different bolt pattern than the 95 up. They also moved the clutch arm to the Passenger side and then went with "internal" throwout bearings which have their downside.

The AA bellhousing although pricey, is the easiest, cleanest way to do it. I've been in the process of the same swap for several months now.
