Shackle bushings ? GMC 72 K1500

How often do the shackle bushings wear out ??? Do they have a lot
to do with handleing ? Is it a good idea to update with these?
1971-1987 GMC Truck 4wd 1/2, 3/4 and 1 ton - FRONT Spring Eye & Shackle Bushing Kit - Prothane # 7-1007

Quote ( from parts store ) (Original equipment rubber bushings deteriorate quickly and give less than ideal performance. Prothane # 7-1007-SALE polyurethane bushings are designed to last up to 3 times longer than standard rubber bushings and will typical improve handling and performance. Replace factory leaf spring and shackle bushings with GMC Truck polyurethane leaf spring (and or) shackle bushings to help improve handling and ride quality)

My truck has a lot of sway and play in steering just replaced power steering
box , did not make much difference ... at 40 mph it kinda scary ...

Re: Shackle bushings ? GMC 72 K1500

I upgraded mine to poly bushings and I noticed it took out a lot of the body roll I was experiencing. Shouldn't effect wandering in the steering though. That might be more of worn tie rods, ball joints and etc.
