'69 Camaro gas tank

Here are some photos of my gas tank relocation project. I know that ground clearance has been a topic of discussion. The distance from the bottom of the bumper to the lowest part of the tank is 7.5 inches. The suspension has not been lowered yet so I don't know what the ground clearance will be.

Re: '69 Camaro gas tank

Thanks, Im familiar with Sliders' thread. Ive actually seen a few more and the spacing varies a little. Your technique and sliders are almost identical. I did notice that the filler height on yours appears to be slightly higher than sliders", using the same size tubing.
One of things that both ways work-----Ill find out the "whys" when I do mine.

Good looking job by the way, thanks for the reply.

Re: '69 Camaro gas tank

That looks nice.
I assume you added the rear sump part.

I'm wanting to do something along these lines and have looked at a few different rea tank installs.
The one thing I've noticed is that with this tank in particular, most seem to use the top flat surface as the referance in terms of mounting angle.
Is this the angle the tank gets mounted in the Camaro?
At that angle do you really have access to the whole 18 gallons of capacity, and will the sender read correct?
It almost seems that if you angle cut the 2x3 box tube narrower towards the front; you could bring the front edge of the tank upward. sort of rotate the whole thing clockwise (if viewed from the drivers side)and raise it so the filler stays in the same place.
That would really make your sump the lowest point, or get closer anyway.
That wouldn't put the filler above the tank, would it?
Looks like you could probably get the flange about parallel to the frame.
That would gain some ground clearance also.

I'm not being critical; what you've done looks great.
I'm just wondering if the tilt would work, or if i've overlooked something.

Re: '69 Camaro gas tank

Correction- the spacers are 1 X 3 inch.
I figured now would be a good time to weld a sump in, even if I don't need it right away. When I cut the square in the license plate bracket, I added the half circle for maximum clearance. I am using the same spacer set up as Slider's, but the tank looks higher up. Not sure why, Maybe just a different brand tank?
